What matters more? Price or cost?

Forget the Price of the Home. The Cost is What Matters. Home buying activity (demand) is up, and the number of available listings (supply) is down. When demand outpaces supply, prices appreciate. That’s why firms are beginning to increase their projections for home price appreciation going forward. As an example, CoreLogic increased their 12-month projection for home values from 4.5% to 5.6% over the last few months. The reacceleration of home values will cause some to again voice concerns about affordability. Just last week, however, First American came out with a data analysis that explains how price is not the only market factor that impacts affordability. They studied prices, mortgage rates, and wages from January through…

    Considering Homesteading

If you’re considering homesteading and being self-reliant there are a few things to consider when purchasing the land. Trust us…we’ve been there and done that. For 13 years we lived in a small, 800 square foot cabin, made by Johnny, his dad and brother. It was rustic and heated only by our small wood stove or cooled in the summer with window units. Electricity had only been turned on the day before we moved in, which just happened to be July 4th weekend. We had no insulation, no running water, and no indoor plumbing. We had 2 small children and lots of dreams and ideas. We lived about 100 yards…

  • Real Estate Adventures

Real estate adventures happen every day, whether we’re showing homes, hosting open houses, talking to clients on the phone, or reaching out to someone new to say, Hey! Last week I had the opportunity to show homes in Burnet, Texas and let me just say … it’s beautiful country. Texas truly is God’s country. Seriously. Out of the three homes I showed, all were close to the water. The first was one block off the water – a simple A-frame home that you had to walk up a spiral staircase just to get to the front door. But, standing on the front balcony we had a full view of the…
